About Us

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We are a non-profit making association with no affiliation to any political, ethnic or religious group.

Our aims are :

    to promote friendship and understanding through activities suited to needs and wishes of members
    to look after newcomers and ease their transition to island life
    to foster good relations with local people

To do this we must be open and welcoming to all people and include both local and foreign members of
all ages, ethnicities and religions.

Our Branch

We form part of Corona Worldwide. In Mauritius the Plateau Branch operates under the umbrella of this organization and is not separately registered as a legal entity.

We meet at the Gymkhana Club on the 3rd Friday of each month.

We are one of 3 branches in Mauritius :

 Plateau Branch
 North Branch
 Central Branch

Since we are not registered locally we have no legal standing without the international connection to Corona Worldwide.

As such we are required to pay Corona Worldwide a proportion of all membership fees collected.

Our Corona

Corona Worldwide has its beginnings in the 1930s as the Women’s Corona Club, a companion dining club to the Men’s Corona Club, for senior officers in the Colonial Service.

The Women’s Corona Society was founded in 1950.

Corona Worldwide was registered in the UK as a charity in 1962.
Corona has come a long way since its inception as a group of colonial wives.

It is now a multi-cultural, multi ethnic group which helps women from all walks of life

to adapt to new and different countries and cultures.
